2nd Partnership Meeting

The second partnership meeting of a Grundtvig project “Integration, Volunteerism and Adult Learning, through an Intercultural Pathway” (IVALIP) was hosted by Polish Humanitarian Organization and held in Warsaw (Poland), in February 21-24, 2009.

17 people participated in this meeting from all organizations involved in international IVALIP project – Intercultura-AFS Portugal (Portugal), Polish Humanitarian Organization (Poland), Giresun Halk Egitimi Merkezi ve Aso Mudurlugu (Turkey), Foundation Institute of Transnational Education and Research (Slovakia) and Association LIA / Window to the Future (Lithuania).

During this meeting representatives of each project partner presented aspects of educational and learning methodologies for adult education in life long learning and volunteer’s life-cycle in each organization. Presentations showed that situation in educational methodologies for adults are quite similar in all countries participating in the project. However volunteerism situations in partner organizations are very different – from “beginners” in volunteering activities (Lithuanian, Turkish and Slovakian partners) to long-lasting volunteerism traditions in Intercultura-AFS Portugal and vast experience of PHO involving volunteers in organization’s activities.

Very important discussion among partners was held regarding project dissemination items –decisions were made about creation and usage of project brochure, flyer, newsletter and website. In Poland partners also agreed about the structure of “train-the-trainer” seminar, which will be held in Lithuania in May.

Beside work host partners organized cultural activities and showed views of Warsaw. Participants from other countries were guided around the Krakowskie Przedmieście and Powiśle streets and old part of Warsaw on the right side of river Vistula, went on the 30th floor of Science and Culture Palace to see the view of Warsaw just before night, visited Warsaw Rising Museum. It was a great experience, especially for those, who have never been to Warsaw before.

Next stop: Lithuania in May…
